My Response To The Death of Charlie Kirk

I have been trying to find the right words as I hear about the death of Charlie Kirk. I was scheduled to hear Charlie Kirk speak in person at a conference next weekend, so this hit me like a ton of bricks. My stomach hurts as I type this. I'm angry. But as I've been watching people give tributes to Charlie Kirk, I've been thinking how to respond myself.

The worst thing anyone could do is resort to violence. Regardless of whether you are a fan of Charlie Kirk or not, murder is not the answer. Charlie Kirk was a young conservative male and so am I. The thought that you can be killed simply by speaking about what you believe is a sobering reminder that the world we live in is full of pure unfiltered evil. Does that mean that you should stay silent and not speak out about anything? Of course not. As Christians we are called not to stay silent in the presence of evil. The best way to honor Charlie Kirk is to speak out and not stay silent. I saw a post on social media that I'd like to share. "The One who promised is faithful. The One who called us will deliver us to our destination. The Author of our faith is also The Completer of our story. His Strength is sufficient. His Wisdom is transcendent. His Watchfulness is flawless. His Presence is permanent. His Joy is our strength. We will not stop."

The enemy will not win. God is in control. 1Timothy 4:12 says "Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe." God will not allow evil to prevail. In Genesis 50:20, Joseph said to his brothers "As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive." In moments like this, always remember to pray. Pray for Charlie Kirk's family and friends, as well as anyone directly or indirectly impacted by this. I should probably say more about this, but I'm still at a loss for words. Hopefully I'll have more to say at a later time.
